WHATā€™S NEW?

The Revival of a Classic

Since my original "empathy" T-shirts sold out in 2020, I've refrained from reprinting them, wanting to harness the cultural nerve they touched. Whenever I wore one, two things always happened: people praised the message and eagerly asked where they could get their own.

Now, after much anticipation, I'm thrilled to unveil the reissue of this classic tee!

Iā€™m thrilled to announce that the original empathy T-shirts are currently available for pre-order in two different colors:

  1. Brick orange lettering on natural tone.

  2. Eggshell lettering on hope blue tone.

As our shirt needs to reflect our values, weā€™ve also gone to great lengths to insure that our selection of stock is of the highest quality:

  • Contains no toxic dyes or formaldehyde

  • Animal cruelty-free

  • Sustainable Pre-Shrunk ELS SUPIMA Cotton

  • Fair trade certified

  • No child labor

  • Sustainable wind energy production

  • Sourced from the USA

While maintaining these high standards tightens our margins, it's essential to us. Our shirts must mirror the movement we're building together.

This reprint coincides with the upcoming designs from our world-class artists, marking the beginning of something extraordinary. This T-shirt signifies our past, our present, and the future we're shaping as a united community.

Check out and pre-order the original "empathy" T-shirt HERE

And be a part of the journey toward a more empathetic world together.

THE SUGARY EFFECT

Empathy (Part 3): Navigating Empathy in Challenging Times

Embarking on the journey of empathy might seem daunting, but remember, every journey starts with a single step. Recent tragic events in the Middle East have given us a chance to practice empathy on a profound level. As I've observed these developments, my heart aches for the trauma and loss endured by people of all backgrounds.

In facing this tragedy, I've employed certain tools that you might find helpful in your own journey navigating this difficult time:

Knowledge is Paramount:

Study history extensively, relying on diverse sources for a well-rounded perspective. Wikipedia alone isn't enough; multiple sources provide a clearer picture.

Be aware that news or commentary, be it through media or social platforms, can be biased, misleading or even outright false. This is the reality we live in. Resist the urge to react impulsively; wait for accurate information and think critically before sharing and always with humility. Disinformation is real and its best friends are assumption and impatience.

It IS Emotional:

Acknowledge the emotional impact of the crisis, both on you and others. Emotional reactions of all types are natural; recognize and accept them. We are human because of it, not in spite of it.

Extend your concern to others. Reach out, create a safe space for reflection, and demonstrate compassion through actions. We're all in this together, and the feeling of being supported is invaluable.

Focus on Humanity:

Remember, policies and politics aren't the people themselves. Differentiate between governments/policies and the individuals they claim to represent.

Despite attempts to blur the lines, maintain focus on the people. To that end, I've chosen non-political charities, like Middle East Childrenā€™s Alliance (MECA) and Magen David Adom Paramedic Services, to aid the real victims of all of thisā€”the people (I have donated equally to both).

Consider donating to these organizations to contribute to desperately needed relief and life-saving efforts.

In times of crisis, empathy becomes our guiding light.

Let's navigate this journey together, recognizing our shared humanity is what is important and standing in solidarity with those in need..āœØ

Forest Bathing in the City Sound Bath by Flow in Harmony

My longtime colleague and friend Ayaka Matsui is hosting a very special ONE-NIGHT only event on Friday 10/20 at 6pm.

Having worked with her on the conceptualization of this event, I can tell you it will be quite the immersive experience.

The sound experience will be led by world famous Masahiro Nakawaki who was a producer of the late composer and musician the legendary Ryuichi Sakamoto and recorded rare sounds of nature from the world famous Grand Shrine of Ise which he will be sharing during this experience.

The experience will begin at sunset and carry you through several hours of guided aural experience, discussion and special performances.

This is definitely a rare experience and not one to miss, so please get your tickets HERE.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

Elena Erin

This Canadian born pop artist who makes her home between both London and NYC came onto the scene in 2021.

Since then, Elena has been building a steady base of fans who gravitate to her accessible melodies, unapologetic themes and a light beautiful vocal delivery that carries wisps of a less moody but no less profound Lana Del Rey or Madison Beer.

Her vocal stylings have caught the attention of several notable DJs on the global stage (i.e New Beat Order, MEYSTA) and her work has an effortless translation to the land of EDM collaborations.

Elena is working on her next album slated for release in the coming months and Iā€™d highly recommend you stay tuned as to whatā€™s to come from this amazing artist on the rise.

Thank you for taking the time to read to the end!

I hope you found something inspiring and meaningful in my content and until next time, explore the possibilities of NYC.
