Is it possible to align our personal purpose with the demands of a market-driven economy?
Is it possible to stay connected to our passions while navigating a system built on profit?
What role does privilege play in finding and following purpose?

6:00pm (Gramercy): National Arts Club Presents: Fashion Victims - Dress at the Court of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette - Join Dr. Kimberly Chrisman-Campbell, author of Fashion Victims: Dress at the Court of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette for an exploration of one of the most exciting, controversial, and extravagant periods in the history of fashion: the reign of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette in 18th-century France. This turbulent era’s sophisticated and largely female-dominated fashion industry both produced courtly finery and promoted a thriving secondhand clothing market outside the royal circle. Chrisman-Campbell will illuminate the exceptionally imaginative and uninhibited styles of the period immediately before the French Revolution, as well as fashion’s surprising influence on the course of the Revolution itself.
